ABOUT MS. LANCE
WHY DID I BECOME AN EDUCATOR?
After my father lost his battle with cancer, my school community helped me to move forward and accomplish my goals and make my dreams a reality. After getting involved in the community around me, I grieved the death of my father while helping others throughout difficult times in their lives. It was at this point that I realized that my passion truly lies in education. Everyday I am given the opportunity to equip the students I teach with subject knowledge as well as life lessons that they can carry with them throughout their journey. ,

MY GOALS AS AN EDUCATOR
I strive to create an environment where students feel welcome and wanted. Within my classroom, it is important that everyone feels comfortable enough to take the subject knowledge and apply it to the world around them. I believe that, in order for individuals to excel, first they must feel confident in their abilities. I value my students opinion and I believe in the importance of addressing concerns that might arise throughout the school year. I am always willing to lend a helping hand in order to ensure every student I teach grows and aspires to be the best that they can be.

OUTSIDE OF THE CLASS:
COMPETITIVE ATHLETE:
While attending the University of Ottawa, I ran for the Varsity Cross Country and Track and Field team. Upon graduation, I began to train with a local track club. I currently am training for the Provincial and National Cross Country Championships. As well, I will be competing in various half marathon races this summer and fall before switching to indoor track and field training during the winter months.
I believe it is important for everyone (including teachers) to set goals for themselves. It is through goal setting that we light the path we hope to walk. This is why I always share my goals with my students. They inspire me to stay focused, disciplined and motivated!

SOCIAL JUSTICE PROJECTS:
I believe it is important to give to those who are less fortunate. I have organized several fundraisers to raise money for such causes as: cancer research, wish granting agencies, and the education systems in Kenya and Jamaica.
Family!
One of the most important components of my life is my family! My husband and I have two beautiful children- Mila (2) and Madden (1) |
